EID HIJAB STYLES : THE JEANS

Today’s Eid Hijab Styles post is for those of you who love, love, love wearing jeans. I don’t think that jeans are a no-no for Eid. As long as you wear a pair of dark wash jeans – rather than light or faded ones – and pair them with dressier pieces, your outfit will be very Eid-appropriate.

For my collage, I paired a nice wide leg jean with a silk dress (go up a size for a looser fit on this one!). To make the look a little more fancy, I added a pretty teal hijabs, a triple-strand pearl bracelet, and a cocktail ring – because they’re my favorite.

EID HIJAB STYLES : THE FANCY LITTLE DRESS

If you’re anything like me, you’re getting started a little late on your Eid outfit shopping. Over the next few days, I’ll be posting some Eid Hijab Styles that will give you a variety of ideas on how to dress up for the upcoming Eid.

Up first is the Fancy Little Dress. Fancy mini dresses are very pretty and very easy to modify in order to create hijab-approved looks. To create your outfit, choose a fancy dress in a bright color or one that has some sort of embellishment on it. I chose a blush-brown dress that has sequins and ruching detail on it.

Next, throw on a bunch of black! A black hijab, black dress pants, a fancy black shoe, and a black cardigan for arm coverage. Add an interesting cocktail ring and you’re all set.

This is an easy and effortless way to get dressed because you probably already have many of these items in your closet. As always, you can find the featured items in the links section below. – And don’t mind the prices; you can find similar items for any budget at your favorite store or website.

HIJAB FASHION TRENDS : FALL 2009 – NEUTRAL BRIGHTS

It’s finally time for my favorite hijab fashion season – Fall and Winter! As usual, this season features a ton of fashion trends that are appropriate for Muslimahs and the one that I’m covering first is what I like to call the Neutral Brights trend.

The Neutral Brights fashion trend is all about wearing one bright, colorful piece and pairing it with neutral items. For the hijabi version of this trend, I found a jewel-toned teal dress and paired it with neutral trousers. I finished the look with a cream-colored hijab, black ankle-boots, and a pretty cocktail ring. The result is a work-ready look that’s fashionably modest and chic.

HIJAB STYLE FINDS : ABAYA

If you’ve been looking for a nice abaya that is affordable and pretty, check out East Essence. I found about 60 pretty abaya styles for under $40 each. HIJAB STYLE FINDS : TIERED LONG PEASANT SKIRT

Today’s Hijab Style Find, is this pretty long skirt by Chadwicks. More than anything, I love the $25 price tag (!!), but I also love the fact that this skirt has a modern tiered design and it comes in some juicy, Summery colors.

I would wear this long skirt with a white tank top, a lightweight black cardigan, and black strappy sandals. For the hijabs, I chose a stripe-printed hijab that features all of the colors in my outfit.

HIJAB STYLE REMIX

This Hijab Style Remix features Rachel Bilson in an easy, casual look that’s pretty modest as it is. To make the look more hijab friendly, I added wider-legged jeans, a longer undershirt (for more coverage in the front), and of course a black hijab. Since I prefer to be a little more polished, I chose accessories that are less casual than Rachel’s, but I stayed with the color theme because I think it really works. HIJAB ESSENTIALS : NORMA KAMALI for WALMART

I don’t check Walmart.com as often as I probably should. Like Target, Walmart has started to collaborate with well-known fashion designers to create affordable collections for the masses.

Right now, they are selling some fabulously affordable Hijab Essentials that are designed by Norma Kamali and I’m about to go to the Walmart store to check them out first hand.

#1 on my shopping list is the Button-Down Tunic Shirt. We all know how necessary tunics are for a hijabi’s wardrobe. Walmart has this style in 3 basic colors: black, white, and pink – and they only cost $20!

The second thing on my list is the Zip Hooded French Terry Jacket Dress. This costs $20 too. Pair it with some workout pants and you have a nice, modest, hijab-friendly outfit to wear for working out. You would be hard pressed to find such an affordable workout outfit at an Islamic clothing store.

The last thing that I want to check out is the Long V-Neck Cardigan. This style of cardigan has been popular since last season, but I have never seen them on sale for $10 before now.

HIJAB Q&A : IMITATING THE “DISBELIEVERS”

I think these posts will be really useful, inshallah, and I think that it’s really important for me to start talking about the hijab-related information that is thrown around on the Internet. HIJAB Q&A #1: Are Muslim women (and men) imitating the “disbelievers” by wearing “modern clothing”?

I don’t want to answer a question with a question, but let’s just think for a moment: What type of clothing do you think Prophet Muhammad wore before he became a Muslim? What do you think the Muslim females of that time wore before they were Muslims?…
