HIJAB STYLE FINDS : LONG-SLEEVE MAXI DRESS!

Salaam ladies! Today I want to share with you a really great hijab style find that I discovered tonight on ideeli. It’s a long-sleeved convertible maxi dress by Ravon.

This is actually a plus-size dress but I would recommend that women who are NOT plus-size pick it up. Why? Well, you can see from the pic that it’s a form-fitting dress–which is a hijab style no-no. But, if you are smaller than the size of the dress, it will fit you nice and loosely… That’s why I’m buying one. It’s only $59 and I’m sure that I’ll be wearing it A LOT.

This winter, I plan to pair it with sleek boots and a fur vest, my fave black blazer, a denim jacket… the options are endless! To me this is the perfect LBD, long black dress… This will definitely be $59 well spent. HIJAB STYLE INSPIRATION

The other day, I was browsing through the lookbooks at shopbop.com and was immediately drawn to the image above. I love everything about this outfit! The brightly colored dress, the neutral striped sandals – it’s all very chic… But of course, I could never wear it outside.

This often happens to me when I’m flipping through magazines or looking at fashion photos online. I’ll see beautiful pieces that are put together in a really great way. Sometimes the outfits are complete hijab style no-no’s (think: anything formfitting). But most of the time, all that’s required to make an outfit hijab-friendly is a little bit of layering.

To make this particular ensemble fit for a hijabi, I paired the dress with wide leg pants, a fitted long-sleeve tee, and shiny accessories. And of course, I’d top it all off with a pretty hijab style.

DESIGNER HIJAB STYLE : SILK HIJABS AND LONG SKIRTS

We Love Hijab is back with more hijab and fashion ideas from ideeli. If you’re not familiar with ideeli, it is equivalent to a TJ Maxx or a Marshalls in that it offers huge discounts on designer clothes. The difference is that ideeli’s sales are for a limited-time only.

The silk scarves come in several pretty colors and prints, including the rose print hijabs pictured above. The long skirts come in a couple different colors as well, but there is also a white tiered skirt that I think is a great hijab style staple for Spring.

A reader on Muslimette.com left an interesting comment today, which reads:

“You’re right – non-muslims don’t have much problem with the hijab. It’s muslim girls and women who are ‘ashamed’ of it in a way. To some people, wearing a hijab is akin to slumming it, like not living up to what life is offering. But we have to face it – this life here is just a transition spot for the true believing Muslim. Sad and such a shame they cannot realize that…” -Z.

I have been wearing hijab since I was about 12 or 13 years-old and I can honestly say that I’ve heard more negative comments about it from Muslim women than from non-Muslims. None of these women actually wore the hijab and their reasons for not doing so range from “the hijab makes my hair fall out” to “I will start wearing hijabs once I’m out of college”… I wouldn’t say that I’ve heard a lot of these comments, but I’ve heard enough of them. On the other hand, I’ve only heard one or two negative comments about hijab from non-Muslims in my entire life (not counting the stupid things that a few people have said in my blog comments).

EID HIJAB STYLES : THE JEANS

Today’s Eid Hijab Styles post is for those of you who love, love, love wearing jeans. I don’t think that jeans are a no-no for Eid. As long as you wear a pair of dark wash jeans – rather than light or faded ones – and pair them with dressier pieces, your outfit will be very Eid-appropriate.

For my collage, I paired a nice wide leg jean with a silk dress (go up a size for a looser fit on this one!). To make the look a little more fancy, I added a pretty teal hijabs, a triple-strand pearl bracelet, and a cocktail ring – because they’re my favorite.

EID HIJAB STYLES : THE FANCY LITTLE DRESS

If you’re anything like me, you’re getting started a little late on your Eid outfit shopping. Over the next few days, I’ll be posting some Eid Hijab Styles that will give you a variety of ideas on how to dress up for the upcoming Eid.

Up first is the Fancy Little Dress. Fancy mini dresses are very pretty and very easy to modify in order to create hijab-approved looks. To create your outfit, choose a fancy dress in a bright color or one that has some sort of embellishment on it. I chose a blush-brown dress that has sequins and ruching detail on it.

Next, throw on a bunch of black! A black hijab, black dress pants, a fancy black shoe, and a black cardigan for arm coverage. Add an interesting cocktail ring and you’re all set.

This is an easy and effortless way to get dressed because you probably already have many of these items in your closet. As always, you can find the featured items in the links section below. – And don’t mind the prices; you can find similar items for any budget at your favorite store or website.
