HOT HIJAB STYLE


We’ve been getting a lot of emails lately from Muslim women who want to know how to layer comfortably when it’s hot outside. Soon it will be summertime and we’ll all be dealing with those dreaded 90°+ temperatures; and that hot weather can definitely be a problem for sisters who wear hijab.


It’s easy to feel isolated in our layering dilemma, but we’re not the only ones who have this issue. If you think about it, businessmen and women wear at least 3 layers of clothing all year long. They typically have on a blazer, a button-front shirt, and pants or a skirt. Not to mention boxers and undershirts for men; and bras, panties, slips, and stockings for women.


The good thing for us, though, is that we don’t have to wear thick business suits (unless of course your job requires them). Instead we can follow a few simple tips to ensure that our summer hijab style will be more haute than it is hot!

Hijab Approved : Long Skirts

Gap has a few long skirts for sale right now that would be really great additions to a hijabi’s spring/summer wardrobe. In the collage above, the skirts appear to be a little too short, but they are all available in a TALL option, so they should be the perfect length for average girls.


Our favorite of the bunch has to be the Chambray Drawstring Skirt. It has that light-denim color that is big for spring, yet it doesn’t look like the unattractive, washed-out denim of the 80s. All of the skirts can be dressy (think chunky heels, wedges, and blazers) or super-casual (think canvas flats, flip-flops, and tees) depending on how you style them… Would you dress them up or down?
