Halal Beauty Products Featuring Olive Oil - Olives

A product does not have to be certified as halal in order to be halal (permissible for Muslim women to use). The products featured in Halal Beauty are halal because they do not contain any pork-by-products. This week, we’re focusing on olive oil.


Most of us only think about using olive oil when we’re cooking. But have you ever thought about using it when you’re washing your hair, shaving your legs, or moisturizing your skin?


Olive oil is one of those “exotic beauty secrets” that has been used for hundreds of years because of its highly beneficial properties. It contains vitamins A and E, healthy unsaturated fats, and antioxidants – all of which benefit the body immensely. Some of the benefits of olive oil are that it moisturizes and nourishes hair, skin, and nails; it protects skin from sun damage and free radicals; it’s gentle on sensitive skin; and it is a great healing agent for the skin.

The fact that there is an entire surah in the Qur’an named after the fig is proof that the fig is a fabulous fruit. Skin care companies are starting to catch on as well and are creating bath and body products that include figs in their lists of ingredients.


What makes figs so appealing is that they are rich in antioxidants – which protect skin from the damaging effects of the environment – and they are very moisturizing and soothing to the skin. Figs also have a sweet fragrance that’s almost luxurious to indulge in. What’s not to love?
