Hijab Styles For Less : Hijab Fashion Trends Spring 2010

Hijab fashion trends for spring include this long striped skirt. This hijab styles set is finished off with a hint of hot pink.
HIJAB STYLES FOR LESS: HIJAB FASHION TRENDS SPRING 2010

Today’s hijab style set has two purposes. 1. I wanted to demonstrate a more subtle way to mix prints within one outfit. And, 2. I also wanted to do a post (as requested) about Hijab Styles For Less (thanks Mira for the title!).

Mixing prints is a pretty hot fashion trend for Spring, but in my opinion, that look can leave you looking like you got dressed in the dark. Nevertheless, I still love this trend and I think that mixing prints can look more chic than crazy by following a few tips:

1. Keep one of the prints neutral in color.
2. Keep one of the prints simple.
3. Keep the shapes classic.

The long skirt that I’ve used in today’s hijab style set fits those three requirements perfectly. It’s black and white, it has a simple striped print, and it’s a classic a-line shape. The blazer is also classic in shape, but it has a bright pink, floral print which carries this look in to Spring 2010.

I finished the look with neutral pieces: black booties, a black pashmina hijab, and a large mother-of-pearl cocktail ring.

Hijab Styles For Less : Striped Long SkirtHIJAB STYLES FOR LESS

This striped long skirt by Xhilaration costs about $17, so it’s a very affordable alternative to the skirt featured in the hijab style set above. I don’t think it would look good with the floral jacket, but if you want a striped skirt in your wardrobe, this one would be a great choice.

So, what do you think? Would you mix prints? By the way, I’m sure that some of us have mixed prints before by wearing a floral scarf with a pinestriped pant or something similar — even if not on purpose. Have you?

@Sabiha Dewji

InshALLAH ALLAH will bless you with more than you can imagine. Continue you’re feelings of gratitude. Believe that this time in your life is a gift for you to focus on the beauty of your soul. I’ve been through poverty and I’ve grown. So, alhamdulilah you’re better off than a lot of people even though it may not feel like it.

ALLAH’s love will be with you =)

Sorry sis but how is this style for “less”? $109 is way out of the ball park of less. (please dont take this the wrong way) What I had in mind, and i dont know if you got my message, was an outfit under $90 dollars. I sent you a couple links, Im guessing you didnt get them.

The cocktail ring for $75, oh my oh my I could never buy that, not on my student income.

I suggest an entire outfit for $50 to $100. I have put together hijab styles for under $40. Complete with dress, cardigan and hijab plus a pair of sandals from payless shoes.

I do however love what you have picked, the style is great, its just not for less.

Salaam, ladies! Thanks for the comments (and the inspiration, @Hala).

@mira: The Xhilaration skirt is the “Hijab Styles For Less” part of this post.

@@@@ SABIHA DEWJI Salaam Sister, I am a student who lives in Seattle and I would be traveling to Tanzania in the coming weeks I wanted to know if in Tanzania I would find stores that sell Muslim clothes such as scarves, skirts, etc. If so can you please at least name me one or two store so that I can write it down. Jazkaalha Sis.

Fayrouz 03.03.10 at 11:48 pm

I like to mix zebra prints with floral prints…usually, not BRIGHT floral prints but subtle, little flowers (especially in colors like purple and yellow). I wouldn’t mix TOO much, otherwise you might end up looking like a circus or an overdecorated room.

mira 03.04.10 at 1:13 am

Sorry if you got offended, I thought you were gonna do a whole outfit. My mistake.

mira 03.04.10 at 11:38 am

i do love the jacket though. very pretty. you have great taste.

luz 03.04.10 at 2:21 pm

salam to all …i love the skirt and all the items it is so geogeous …i also mix the clour and it look so nice specially in this summer time i would give you a 100% pass.

Nishi 03.04.10 at 4:14 pm

i like the jacket though i would never mix it with stripes. I think prints look best when matched with solid colours but thats just my opinion :)

Jee Jee 03.12.10 at 1:09 am

Salam!
I like the skirt, the ring, and the scarf, but for some reason, I really don’t like the pink jacket. That’s my opinion. I think that the skirt would go nice with like a grey-kinda top. . .or something other than pink, lol. Pink isn’t really my color. I’d wear a different jacket with it, but other than that, it’s still cool.=)
LUV your ideas sis! keep up the good work!!

sf 04.19.10 at 9:29 am

Love the skirt, though the lines across are not for my body, lol. I totally adore the blazer and I just discovered that I don’t mind wearing pink afterall! BTw, the ring is A-mazing!!
@ Sabiha, I thought Tanzania got stuff from Dubai and asia, you can get these things though depends which part of Tanzania you are from. Heard Zanzibar had amazing and very affordable stuff. PS. Am from Mombasa :))

AK 05.24.10 at 6:53 pm

I LOVE the skirt. I’m big on stripes as of late, and I think mixing prints is a great way to wear stripes without looking like the Hamburglar.

L'Oreal 06.10.10 at 1:49 pm

i just happened upon your blogspot while searching for muslimah clothing. this is fantastic. i can just buy regular clothes and give it a modest twist. its really nice to see this. thanks for your site!

Amanda 06.20.10 at 10:33 pm

I just wanted to write in and say how HAPPY I am to have found this site! I am not Muslim (I’m a Christian), but this website is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I have been quite frustrated that the only two options (for the most part) seemed to be either dress immodestly, or dress in something frumpy and unattractive. I KNEW that it was possible to dress fashionably AND modestly, but it’s not something I’ve run across yet in Christian circles! I am getting lots of great ideas here!

And may I just add that I am very sorry that anyone would bother a woman for wearing hijab! I think they are beautiful! That level of modesty is a beautiful thing in my opinion! I wear a covering similar to the Jewish tichel, but I greatly admire the modesty (and beauty) of the hijab, I would love to wear them! It makes me sad to hear of people calling them oppressive and of girls and women made to feel ashamed for wearing them!

Rubaida Islam 07.28.10 at 9:29 pm

nichan 08.04.10 at 9:39 am

i love it, classy and classic :D

Noor 08.04.10 at 6:36 pm

That’s indeed really pretty but I find it quite ridiculous to call that hijab! High heel booties, mad prints and jewellery? hello? That’s about as unmodest as it gets. Stop the joke! Hijab is not about wearing a headscarf and wearing some loosish skirt. You will get gazed on and noticed with that outfit, it’s like so “look at me i m pretending i m all modest but I want everyone to see how sexy I am”. Actually it reminds me of girls who wear a headscarf with tight jeans and nothing above, showing all their curves to everyone.

SHOAIB 08.05.10 at 12:59 pm

amina hall 09.17.10 at 8:35 pm

I want to see more muslim designers and less western ones, why fund their economy??

T @ Empowered Modesty 09.21.10 at 9:41 am

I LOVE that skirt! I’m an Orthodox Jew and although our skirts only need to cover our knees when sitting, I much prefer floor-length skirts. I find Muslim designers / stores catering to Muslims are often the best when it comes to finding this type of style.

MWF 10.31.10 at 6:47 am

Hi, I love long skirts too. But I am not sure the stripped skirt featured will be flattering to all women. For a curvy gal, that skirt’s gonna make her appear bigger than she really is!

Plain or small print long skirt styles is flattering to most body shapes, I think….

Sabiha 10.31.10 at 1:15 pm

Love the skirt !

Sabiha 10.31.10 at 1:18 pm

I wish I can find more muslims designers too … why don’t you start a thread about muslim designers ? … ones that have online stores … and anybody that finds anything interesting can post it … that way we will have a list of them at the end to go through :).. what do you guys think?

Modest Clothing 11.02.10 at 7:18 am

Lovely dresses.especially striped long skirt by Xhilaration are excellent…The online hijab stores often offers hijab sale thus making it truly irresistible.
