salaam everyone!
Just wanted to answer the makeup question.... with hijab, to put it simply, we are not supposed to bring attention to our selves, through makeup or jewelry or elaborate attention-grabbing colors and styles.
With hijab, it is supposed to be PRESENTABLE, but not beautiful...because even if our hair is covered and we emphasize our features with make-up, then the purpose of hijab is defeated.

I agree with Ahmed Maryam. We should not use brouches (sp?) and other kinds of adornments over the hijab to adorn ourselves when in fact we are trying to cover our natural adornments (e.g. hair)

Assalam Alaykum sisters,
I am happy and appreciate the beautiful effort of my sisters all over the world. In as much as we have different types of hijab styles, I will not want us to forget the conditions and purpose of hijab. The hijab should cover our adornment and I dont think it will be proper using an adornment to cover an adornment. By so doing, the purpose of hijab might have been defeated. Allahu A'laam (Allah knows best).
May Allah increase us all in knowledge and understanding of the deen.

Wa 'alaikum as-salaam, sisters

Answering the question above about makeup: I use waterproof makeup (or as waterproof as they can get, as not many pigments are 100% water resistant) and then pat the face dry, instead of rubbing it with a towel. I don't reapply during the day.

Hope that helps :o)

Amena

PS: thanks for the comments & I'm glad the video helped

Maybe they reapply the makeup over and over again. Maybe they look at the example of the fact that you can wipe water over your socks when making wudhu as long as your feet are clean inside of the socks. I don't really know. A main concept of wudhu is to purify the most often exposed body parts in order to prepare for prayer. If your face is clean under your foundation (for example), what is the need to go beneath the surface dirt that may be on top of the makeup? Wudhu is not a bath, it is just meant to wash away surface dirt - makeup is not dirt.
</br>
This is how look at it. I don't have any Qur'aanic verse/fatwa/hadith to cite, but if you have more information, please share. :-)

Sallaaaam! I have a question/concern that has been on my mind. I am a convert to Islam alhamduliah! :) In my knowledge of Islam, when you make wudu for prayer you have to wash the face. All of it, including eye lids/lashes. How do sisters whom wear much make up do this 5 times a day? Are you constantly reapplying? I do not wear makeup, so I just don't get it really. Thanks!
