Hijab Style Finds: Plus-Size Cardi

10/15/2009

hijabstylefindsplussizecardiIf you’ve been waiting for me to feature plus size clothing on WLH, this Hijab Style Find is for you. Today’s find is a kelly-green cardigan by ON. I like this cardi because it’s feminine (the elasticized puff sleeves), affordable ($30), and it comes in three basic colors (black, white, and tan) and two jewel-tones (the green shown here and deep pink).

Hijab Style Tip:
Unlike typical cardigans, this one is tight on the hips so that it creates a blousy look when buttoned up. When wearing this style, you’ll want to leave the last few buttons undone so that the cardigan flares out and conceals your hips. – And of course you’ll want to wear this over longer items like sleeveless maxi-dresses or mini-dresses and pants.

I actually have quite a few of these Old Navy Cardigans. They are very roomy and long! Even as a hijabi you might want to size down.

They also had a nice ruffle cardigan (ruffles along the button) not too long ago.
Now you just need a plus size Haute Hijabi. LOL.

I really like this, but my hope to boycott Chinese products again runs into a wall. See, most if not all the clothing in Old Navy is made in China…and China remains steadfast in killing their native populationof Muslims. Let’s see if we can find another piece of clothing else where.

@Samira: Check out some of the previous lovely Haute Hijabis. They weren’t all size 2’s! :-)

Hey faith!!! i didnt know that, thanks for the info im goin to research that! Another thing that sucks is how we all, even myself are sympathetic to cancer and there has been a cure for it since the 1920’s. but the FDA and AMA eventually ran him out of the country…because there is no money in a cure… see you cant make money healing people unless you unethically charge them large sums of money… but you can ‘treat’ people. that way they have to survive on drugs and ‘treatments’ that the drug companies profit from. Want proof? Google Harry Hoxsey… we gotta educate ourselves America is wicked boy!!!!

I’d love to see some long cardigans or sweater coats that are just perfect for covering up and bundling up in this cold weather :)

I absolutely love the idea of pairing this with a maxi dress!

I guess i’m looking for the sixteen plus girls. The real deal plus size! LOL. My other fashion blogs are non-hijabi (Young, Fat and Fabulous (love Gabi!), Musings of a Fatshionista, The Fat Stylist, etc. ) so I get a steady diet of fuller figures and fashions over there!

Asalaamu Alaikom…

Hmm.. I really wish this site was more plus size friendly.. Like everytime I see a cute outfit, I see something that either is my exact size or too small.. it’s kind of disappointing, considering the different body types women have, and that 67% of America is overweight.. =/
