vanessawlhEID HIJAB STYLES : VANESSA

The Hijabi:
Vanessa, 22

Location:
Puerto Rico

Occupation:
Psychology Student

The Look:
Maxi dress, long-sleeve tee (or shrug?), shimmery purple and black hijab.

I love it because…
it features some of my favorite things all in one: a gorgeous maxi dress, purple and black colors, and metallic accents.

What I’d change…
Nothing! This look is completely modest, dressy, and chic. And I wish I could find that maxi dress online somewhere. Vanessa, where did you get it from?

What do you think of this look? Leave a comment to let me know.

Thank you sisters!!
I got my dress from Charlotte Russe, on sale! I already checked the website and it isn’t there anymore :( but they still have one that is exactly the same style but with another pattern and colors, here it is: http://www.charlotterusse.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3609532 . Also, my hijab is from CR, they still have it on 2 tones of green and green w/ brown. I’m glad you like my outfit. Salam! =D

Vanessa! My family is from Puerto Rico, it’s great to see that there are some hijaby sisters there! I haven’t been in a while to Puerto Rico… my family hasn’t seen me with it on, yet! I’m a convert and am LOVING everything about Islam, alhamduliah, and recently embracing the hijab has been liberating! So thanks for some inspiration.

Vanessa 10.25.09 at 7:14 pm

Mashallah! Monica that’s really nice, I’m a convert too, alhamdulillah! It makes me happy to know other Puerto Rican sisters, write me, I’d like to talk to you more :D

Amanda 10.26.09 at 8:37 am

Isn’t the point of hijab to draw attention away from your sexuality. I don’t understand how some sisters rage about “hijab or fire” and then wear sparly coloured outfits, high heeled shoes, ultra feminine material, hijab broches or even perfume. If you walked down the high street in the outfit above you would get just as much attention or more than if you walked down in the same outfit, without the sparkly hijab, completely covered and your hair tied back. Tell me, as I feel I am loosing the plot a little with the hijab, just how far can you go with glamming up the hijab before you loose the purpose of the hijab to start with?

Rumanto 10.29.09 at 11:25 pm

Astagfirulloh, you look beatiful girl

i love hijab so much if a muslim woman does not wear a hijab how i will know that she is a muslim

Jacqui 01.10.10 at 10:09 pm

WOW, i am in love with this look! It is a beautiful combination of colors and still so modest! =)
I’m not Muslim, I’m actually Adventist. And I am very pro-modest dressing for women, and I’m currently browsing sites for long skirts and dresses, and I’ve considered covering my hair as well… Any one have any ideas as to where I could physically shop? (I live in NJ, I’m thinking NY might have some places) OR is online my best bet?

Thank you chicas! =)
Allah hafiz.

What a lovely look! And I appreciate the fact that Vanessa did her hijab in a way that covered up her tighter top. (I’d do this look with a cute loose black or purple top though, myself)

Sabrina 07.24.10 at 2:59 pm
