Man, Shukr. I always love their stuff but their prices are so much higher than everywhere else! Astaghfirallah! I might spring for higher-end things for Eid than I usually do, but $60 for a tunic?

But the first abaya *is* really pretty. And I would rather support an Islamic clothing company than something like J Crew. But Shukr, please…the prices…please…it burns us…

I like the details on the last two. A little something in front always makes an other wise plain cloth dress more interesting.

Assalaamu aleikum. Shukur does have lots of sales and a sale section…..I have found great deals on items that are priced high as the regular price.

Also, I found a great website that is affordable and you can customize the length of the sleeves, skirt, overall length of a shirt, etc. It is either free or a little extra to customize. http://www.eshakti.com

Shukr’s prices do seem high at first glance, but when you consider the quality (like a denim skirt you can wear every day for 3 years and it still looks like new), it is a bargain.

Also Shukr manufactures in Syria and not in China and pays their workers a fair wage. I cannot feel good about buying something that is only cheap because of the poor working conditions of the people who made it.

I do not work for Shukr, and never have, but I do have many years experience as a manufacturing accountant in the garment industry.

I once communicated with employees in Shukr’s factory in Syria over a quality control issue I once had with a skirt’s zipper, and I will tell you first hand that Shukr treats their employees with the respect and dignity that we would all hope to get from our employers. And to me that makes their clothes even more beautiful.

Like everyone else, right now, our finances are very tight. But with Shukr, the quality is enjoyed long after the price paid is forgotten.

Quick question to all sisters who wear abayas: What do you wear inside such that the abaya doesn’t cling onto your legs? Whether it’s a long dress or knee length top with pants, I have problems with them sticking to my pants and revealing my figure (my behind). Also the knee-length tops keep bunching upward and look more like mid-tight length. Any tips? I’m not sure if a slip will do the job. Thanks!
