HIJAB FASHION TRENDS OF 2008

The Winter Garden trend is next up on my list of the Top Fashion Trends of 2008. I love this trend because it’s all about femininity… flowers, paisley, and rich embellishments on a darker, wintery color palette.

The silk maxi dress that I chose to illustrate this trend is definitely not an inexpensive item. But I think that it’s gorgeous and I wanted to feature it. To create the outfit, I chose a long, thin cardigan that I’d wear open over this dress. I chose gold and black bangles to wear over the sleeve, a simple dress shoe, and three different color choices for the hijab. I love this look!

It’s a toss-up between turquoise and berry shades as my favorite color to wear these days, but at the moment turquoise is winning out.

The dress is way too expensive, but I can still enjoy looking at it.

salaams, that dress is very nice. Keep up it coming !

Ooooooh!!!Sooooooo pretty, the dress reminds me of a peacock’s feathers. I love this!!

I would do something with a turquoise scarf and a twisted black accent scarf with some metallic accents too to match the dressiness of the dress.

Thank you!

I just wanted to tell you I love this site and am glad I found it. I am not Muslim and don’t exactly dress hijab, but my dad is from India, and my recent trip there profoundly affected my feelings on how women should dress. I learned I have more respect for myself and receive more respect from others when I don’t show myself to everyone. This site, including the old blog, is the best on-line case I’ve seen for the beauty and even stylishness of modesty! Keep up the good work :)

I love it, keep up the good work!

Oh, my goodness. I would want to wear this dress for a majorly formal event, such as a high-style wedding. I wish I’d had this outfit when I attended my uncle’s 60th birthday party in Paris. I used to sing professionally before I took the decision to become observant in my religious faith (Jewish), but if I were still a performer, I would wear this, or something very like it, on stage. I love this site, and I am so proud and pleased at the creativity of other modest women who are serious about their beliefs and how to live by them. May you always be matzliach (successful)!

I love this site…I check it regularly and think you are great at putting the styles together.
However I do have one comment and I have thought about it for some time now.
How come most of your clothes/sets include something from gap/old navy/piperlime etc?
These are zionist companies that are financially supporting the destruction of Palestine.
As a Muslimah I struggle with where I shop, I try to ensure that my clothes are ethically sourced…
I just wanted to point this out but please do not be offended as I know many people are not aware of this.

HI! I LOVE YOU BLOG IT’S VERY NICE!! THIS IS MY FASHION BLOG PLEASE GIVE ME A COMMENTS!!

THANK YOU!!

I love this sites and your ideas. I love the maxi dress too!
I think that posting clothes from GAP/ OLD Navy, etc is just a way of giving people ideas of what to buy, not necessarily WHERE to buy.
It’s nice to have the knowledge and the inspiration to look for these items in the stores where one feels more comfortable shopping.

do you know how heavy and hot/non-breathing tencil fabric can be? If it is the thinner gradeof tencil, and perhaps an smaller piece of an outfit, such as a vest, it could be do-able.But for msyelf and others Muslimah’s I know, this would not be my first choice in comfort.

chocolate 02.14.09 at 4:01 pm

Definetly my favorite.:)

gülsah 02.28.09 at 9:12 pm

Love, love, love the dress! Where is it from??

soon_to_be_hijabi_inshallah 03.31.09 at 1:58 pm

really pretty dress, but a long cardigan over a long dress is frumpy and uglyin my opinion. a cropped sweater is better.

aagi 04.25.09 at 9:15 am

i LOVE the dress. i want it so much. it’s perfect for big occasions and i love the color. i just HATE the price.

ayan 04.30.09 at 11:21 pm

shakira 06.01.09 at 4:28 pm

this is sooo expensive though i meant spend for the dress for 597.oo i mean come on i am not that rich you know. if you give me some ideas tell me how to dress pretty and cheap as well

Isha 06.01.09 at 9:40 pm

Sister Shakira,it is only a suggestion. The key is to find something similar that meets your budget and is modest. You can find several dresses that are cheap. YOU have to do the searching. You cant expect our sister who created this forum to send you a catalog with only cheap stuff. She is doing a wonderful job with the suggestions. Salaam

muslimah 09.26.09 at 1:05 pm
