WE LOVE HIJAB LOVES : TOP FASHION TRENDS OF 2008

Lace is up next on my list of the Top Fashion Trends of 2008. Every girly-girl needs a little lace in her wardrobe; and while there are plenty of lacy clothes in stores, many of them look too much like lingerie to be worn outdoors.

For hijab wearing women, I found this metallic lace dress that has lining and a structured shape. I paired the dress with a matching hijab, dark jeans, and a brown cardigan and pumps. Add an armful of bangles to create the perfect look for a night out.

i personally dont like the fancy dress over the semi casual jeans, i think, that if you have to cover that part of your legs, that it would be cute to put a really similar shiny coloured skirt underneath that is long enough and it will look like its layered. since brown is a warm and silver is a cool i recomend black accessories but thats just me
ciao!

I love this!
Mash’allah your style sense is fabulous! Hmm now I need lace in my wardrobe :D

I like the lace of the dress a lot, but think the top half makes it hard to work with. I would experiment with a sleeveless shell to cover the neck area and a shrug or bolero jacket to provide sleeves. I feel that would match the fanciness of the dress better than a cardigan (even a lovely cashmere one).

And I agree with pumpmar about black complement pieces, at least based on way the color looks in the photo. I guess you could experiment and make different outfits — I would even try lavender sleeves/hijab to see if that matches.

Assalaaum aleikum. I really like the combination of colors, at least from what I can see of the colors from the picture. I would not normally think of silver with brown but I like to take fashion “risks” and be different. I think black would definitely be the safe choice and what people probably have more of in their wardrobe. Even though you are calling these lastest postings “Trends We Love”, of course most of us probably know it’s good to have soom classic items and then some trendy items. I personally just go with what I like, what I think is beautiful…..I’m a bohemian at heart. That also means that I mix vintage items into my wardrobe. As long as my clothes are islamicly correct I wear what makes me feel good. I can’t wait for iMuslimah. Ma Salaama

Asalaam aleikum,

Until this season, I always thought that black went with silver and brown went with gold, you know cool with cool and warm with warm. But I have been really enjoying wearing silver with brown, ever since a new brown scarf with silver threads inspired me.

I love metallic shoes and lace and wear both not only for a night out, but also to brighten up an otherwise drab outfit.

Thank you for this and all of the other great ideas!

I absolutely adore the metalic lace dress together with those high heels and shayla but at the same time I agree with what pumpmar has to say. If it’s formal then the whole outfit should be formal. I’d rather where cotton straight pants with that dress. Something like this: [edited: link to salwar/kameez suit] But again a little more formal then shown in the above link.
Wassalam! :)

But nonetheless you’re doing an awesome job! Thank you for all the great ideas!

As-Salaamu’ Alaikum. :o)

I can relate to this outfit. I like wearing casual pants with a fancy top!

Jazakillahu Khair, aameen.

im glad some liked my idea but do whatevers cool with you, ive liked that dress for the longest time and since im short ill probably feel comfortable not wearing pants with it, but jewel tones always go with silver and i think a blue jewel tone stocking would look awesome

ASSALLMU ALIKUM

This is mashallah very nice!

The dress is pretty, but…
why on earth would anyone wear a dress that hits below the knees with wide leg jeans?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!? It’s pretty long for a sleeveless semiformal dress. In my opinion, you can wear opaque tights and nice shoes with it, as long as you make sure the tights are completely opaque.

aagi 05.24.09 at 6:31 pm

I think it depends on your own idea of a modest dress. For some muslims it’s enough to wear opaque tights, for some maybe not tights but skinny jeans or straight-leg jeans, for others even wide-leg jeans are not covering enough. So please don’t judge, just accustom the idea to your personal level of modesty.

anythingbutordinary 05.24.09 at 6:54 pm

I don’t mean to judge/offend anyone. I just don’t think calf length lacy dresses go with wide leg jeans, or any jeans for that matter. As pumpmar (the first one) said, wearing a long skirt under it for the “layered look” would be modest and it would actually look very pretty and unique. I also agree with the other pumpmar (the Christian who dresses modestly) that a jewel toned stocking would look good. But wide leg (casual) jeans just don’t look good with a calf length lacy (formal) dress. lol.

Fatima 08.24.09 at 2:49 pm

Where did you get the dress from? This is so so pretty.. Thanks! :)

Modest Christian Girl 09.07.09 at 7:32 pm

I love hijab fashion! The only thing is, I wouldn’t wear wide leg pants with a dress that long.
