A’salaamu alaikum. Masha’Allah, habibati, that was sooo pretty! I tend to stick with the one-piece long tieback khimars but after watching this I tried a version of it. Not the layers, mind you, but wrapping my hijab in the manner you did (pinning at back of neck, etc.) It is sooo comfy and pretty; I am sure my zawj will thank you too. One idea…for the middle layer of color you could try just using a headband (bought or homemade) or tube underscarf. It would cut down on some of the work, weight and heat in the summer. Just a though.

It looks very nice and elegant. I love the idea of mixing colors for a unique style. I don’t know if I could personally do this exact style for several reasons. One being that it’s way too many layers for comfort. I have a hard time hearing through an underscarf and scarf. Another is that it has too many pins and steps that if my toddler son was to grap and pull, it would take way to much time to piece myself together. This style seems best suited for a younger sister that is childless. Thanks for sharing your creativity for all. Salaams.

It’s a bit too much for me (the layering) but nontheless I like it. Quite unique I find.

Putting the earrings through the hijab and ears seems a little dangerous to me…if someone pulls the hijab it would also pull the earlobes. I agree with the one sister; the style is very pretty but probably best for those without small children that tug. Jazak Allah khair

Too many scarves for my personal tastes (and for my round face.) But I appreciate the video. I’m thinking of doing something using the first two layers though.

It’s a cute style but it’s too high maintenance for daily wear plus, I feel that all the layering will probably have you have trouble hearing! lol
That’s really cute. :) I agree that with babies it’s not very practical, but I can see myself wearing that once my kids get a couple of years older … I don’t think it’s strictly speaking a “young sisters” thing.
This is super chic but I wouldn’t try it cos my country is just too warm and this is super great if my country is winter wonderland!

One thing- to create the illusion of multiple scarves without all the warmth you might be able to use a headband type underscarf for the second layer. A Black lace headband would be nice. The first layer should still leave the hijab looking nice & full.

The style looks nice however, it is too bulky. It gives the appearance of a “turkey neck” that is how much it is bluging underneath the chin. I must say however that sister Amani is soo cute…mashAllah.
if i go an wear a hijaabs i would do a hijaabs like this who cawerd’s up your ears en neck. couse thats what the koran says. anyway now i’m not waring a hijaabs. no bady supports me in that so i need some big support from allah subanwataalah. thank you for shwowing us how to use a hijaab

All of these layers doesn’t it effect your hearing? Cuz i even have that when i layer 2 small pashminas.

Awesome idea! I do kind of the same thing sometimes, but just the first two layers. My first layer is an amira/2-piece scarf, so it stays over my ears, and then I wrap the second oblong/shayla around my bun and just leave it like that.

Okay I have a problem. I’m currently pregnant and wearing my hijab around my neck is making me nauseous and feeling like I’m choking. Does ANYONE have any other way I can style it, so that I’m not feeling ill all day long. Please email me.

I am fond of wearing a turtleneck and wearing my hijab in a bun. However, this may or may not be conservative enough for you. For me, it is my favorite.

I have a serious problem with this look. I love it WAY too much! My problem is that I’m a Jew, and I’ve been taught that out of respect for our cousins the Muslims, I shouldn’t wear my scarf the way Muslimas wear theirs, because it might appear as if I’m mocking Islam (God forbid) or just wearing it as a costume.
So I’m supposed to wear a scarf that only covers my hair and maybe my ears, but not my neck. That way I will still look Jewish, both to my Muslim neighbors and to my fellow Jews. But the Muslim ways of wrapping scarves are so elegant! And they keep the neck warmer in winter, and shield it from sunburn in the summertime.
I wish I could think of ways to wrap my scarves as beautiful as this wonderful girl, and the other women on this site, but that kept me still looking Jewish. If anyone has an idea, please help!

@Judith: I don’t think it’ll be mocking Muslims in any form at all! No one’s going to harass you (God forbid) for wearing a headscarf in any style you like. Maybe you can wear a necklace with the symbol of your faith for any misunderstandings? How awkward if some says Asalamu Alaikum and you say Aleichem Shalom, although I doubt they’ll notice the difference :D
it’s so cool that so many women visit this site :) even Jewish. if just more Christian girls started wearing modest clothing i think we could build some “feminine bridges” :)

Aagi, you’re so right! You know, I’ve read the Christian bible and it says in there that a woman should cover her head while praying. In another part, it says “pray without ceasing,” so theoretically a Christian woman’s head should be covered all the time because she’s praying all the time. The three monotheistic faiths all prescribe head/hair covering for women. I would love to start a tripartate conversation group for head covering. I think it’s true what one of our Haute Hijabis said, “You could [cover your hair] if you truly knew the rich benefits it brings.”
