Wearing A Hijab As A Fashion Statement Is Totally Ruining The Name Of Islam...
Why Wear A Hijab If Thats How Your Going To Dress Sisters? Why?
The Whole Point Of Wearing A Hijab Is To Cover Yourself With The Grace Of Allah(Swt) And With Muslim Women Now A Days, They All Slack 10 Million Layers Of Foundation, Make-Up All Over Their Faces And Wear Tight Jeans And Tops And The Worst Thing About This Is That They Even Wear A Hijab On Top Of It! WTF? What Is The Point?
If Thats What You Really Want.. What Is The Point Of Covering Your Hair?
Just Live Life Either Like A Full Respectable Muslim Women, Whom Muslim Men Can Look At And Say "Mashallah" . Or Stop Fooling Yourself And Live Your Life The Way The Kaafirs Live It And When Men Look At Your Attept Of Styling Your Stuff Up And More They Say "Oo Sexyting"..

Just Think About What You Are Doing Muslim Sisters In Hijabs With Tight Clothes And Make-Up Pouring Eevrywhere Off Their Faces, Just Think And Remember One Thing.......
You May Fool The World, The People Around You And Even Yourself......
But You Can Never Fool The Almighty Allah(Swt).

May Allah (Swt) Show You Muslimahz The Right True Path.

Salaam everybody! Wow, I only saw a few of the comments above the last time I checked in last year. I'm not sure how often people are checking here anymore, or if its the same people but I first want to thank everyone for their beautiful comments. They are all much appreciated. I've just read all the comments so I don't remember which names correspond to which comments but I'll try to address some of them from my perspective now.

About the ears...I am not 100% positive or convinced that ears are part of a woman's awrah, least of all the lobe. However, the way I usually wear my hijab does cover my ears. But when I do my hijab in different styles sometimes the ear lobes show. Inshallah Allah will bless me and all of us with a better understanding. I remember hearing a hadith (I think it was concerning zakat) where some women took their earrings off to give to charity. Inshallah I'll try to find it and post it back. But that is where my confusion of ears being awrah began.

About pictures, as a sister or two stated above, they did not have "photos" in the time of Prophet Muhammad (saw). They were combating sculptures and idolatry. I believe that painting and sketching to attempt to recreate Allah's creation is what that is referring to. A photo is not a matter of recreation, it is the capture of light on film. There wasn't even anyone taking my pictures lol. The camera was set on a timer. If the hadiths where about photos than that would make movies haram as well. A movie is the same exact thing as a picture, only a million of them put together. There was another hadith, forgive me for not having it off hand, that talks about Prophet Muhammad (saw) praying in front of a curtain that had a print of birds (which are of Allah's creation) on it. He told (I believe) Aishah to take it down because it was distracting, and she made a pillow out of it instead. Again, inshallah I will get back with this hadith as well. But hadiths and surahs are taken out of context all the time. I don't think any hadith can stand alone. And they are from collections that could be verified. How many hadiths could not be verified. We may be missing key information from a conversation right before the hadith began. Who knows.

Anyway, I do appreciate the sisters advising me, and the sisters standing up for me. I do believe as a sister stated that one should admonish another Muslim in private. But I also see the point of doing it here. Because the pics are exposed to so many muslimahs, the sisters just didn't want other muslimahs getting what they believe is the wrong idea. So may Allah bless all of us for efforts and intentions and let us all grow in understanding and iman, ameen!

Salaam! To anybody who comes back lol!

Wow. I just wasted 10 minutes of my precious time reading a bunch of pointless arguments. About...guess what? The fact sister Salimah's earlobes are showing, and whether or not photography is haram.

Really? Earlobes? WTH is the big deal about earlobes?? They're not beautiful or sexy, they're just there. Whether you believe they are awrah or not, they do not increase or decrease a woman's sex appeal, or affect her modesty or her iman.

As for photography, whether it's haram or not, it is not worth fighting over. As sister Hayah said, this is not a place to argue about the finer points of fiqh. Sister Kima put up pictures of Salimah with the intention of letting her sisters in God see some real life hijabi style, not with the intention of recreating Salimah (audhubilah) *rolls eyes* Seriously, enough already with the arguing over completely pointless things online for the world to see. No wonder people think we're small minded, uneducated, and oppressed. Whoever was picking the fight on here needs to stop. Seriously ladies, most of us have gone through puberty. We're not all 8- and 9-year-olds. GROW UP.

i agree. do you honestly know any man that is attracted to women's lobes? i have to say that in hijab i can't hear some people that well so sometimes i do uncover part of my ear just to be able to hear everything. my hearing isn't that good, i'm not deaf but it's embarrassing to ask "Excuse me, what did you say?" 3 times in a row. do any of you have that problem sometimes?

For some reason, I read most of the comments..then went back to look at the picture posted.
Did we really have around 100 comments that started because PART OF HER EAR LOBE is showing in 2 of the pictures?
You recently wrote an article about hijab being overrated. YES, i think it is. I wear it, I support it..however, I think muslims are placing waaay more emphasis on this than necessary.

I wish muslims were just as passionate about pointing out domestic violence in muslim homes, racism or other issues that are equally mentioned in the quran or sunnah.

Assalamu alaikum. Sisters, we don't have to wear a black tent with our eyes peeking out from two slits to be modest. We can be modest by wearing colourful Western clothes. Allah SWT told us to cover all but our face and hands. This gorgeous sister has acheived that. So why don't you nit-pickers back off, hmmmmm? :)

Asalamu alaikum sisters..this is a nice website but i dont agree with the modernization of hijab. We are not supposed to be making a fashion statement...its about coverig properly and trying not to draw attention to ones self. Lets fear Allah sisters!
