HIJAB APPROVED : GAP

Gap has a few long skirts for sale right now that would be really great additions to a hijabi‘s spring/summer wardrobe. In the collage above, the skirts appear to be a little too short, but they are all available in a TALL option, so they should be the perfect length for average girls.

Our favorite of the bunch has to be the Chambray Drawstring Skirt. It has that light-denim color that is big for spring, yet it doesn’t look like the unattractive, washed-out denim of the 80s. All of the skirts can be dressy (think chunky heels, wedges, and blazers) or super-casual (think canvas flats, flip-flops, and tees) depending on how you style them… Would you dress them up or down?

Oh I didn’t answer you question, silly me!
Well I would dress it up and down depending on the occasion and setting I will be in. But since it is spring now I would most definitely dress it down and keep it simple but chic :D

These are really pretty mashaAllah! I esp love the purple one. I’d wear it with a white tank and denim jacket, maybe a long beaded necklace, then top it with a purple hijab. Does anyone know how long the tall ones are? I need at least 40″ to be long enough for me:)

I’d definitely go casual-it’s spring going into summer-I like to be as comfortable as possible!

I’d definetly go casual with skirts like these. My fave is the white one. Medina, you can find loads of long skirts at Dorothy Perkins, Mango, BHS, Next and Monsoon!

Casual all the way. My favorite is the floral and chambray one. I’d love to see a piece on summer hijab on We Love Hijab. Keep it up! This is my favorite fashion blog :)

badhijabday

If I wasn’t having a badhijabday (hehe), I’d wear the white one with a black cardigan (it’s raining today) and some boots. Maybe rain-boots even, like these cute ones that they had at endless a few months ago. Good post! Thankx. :D

I ordered them some time ago – actually a white one …it was a little bit short though …and you will definitely need a slip underneath …coz when the sun shines thru …forget it :))

Anyways, i had to return mine

The Gap doesnt have the length included in their descriptions! That would make it hard to shop online, though i LOVE the skirts. The purple and white skirts are my favorite – soo pretty and summery! If anyone by any chance know the length of the skirts please post on here. Thank you!

I just got the white one today at GAP! :D
As sister Olga stated you most definitely need a slip lol … oh and another trick is to buy a size larger than you so that it is longer in length. For example I usual would get a small in terms of size but I got a medium instead so that it reached below my ankle and not above it :)

Ah! Or you could just get the tall version (did you get the tall or the regular Ayan?). That’s my favorite thing about JCPenny by the way and they give you the measurements right on the site. Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) prefers that people wear two layers of clothing at least anyways, so it’s no big deal to need a slip with your skirt. Can’t wait to see what’s next at We Love Hijab! Salaam sis Francis/Lisa … sorry not sure which name you go by lol

I bought the regular one, since that is what was left in the store … so instead of a small I got the medium to add length (since it is draw string it will fits you no matter what). But if a GAP near you has a tall then you should get that instead (whatever fits)!
hope that helps :)

SORRY FOR THE ALL-CAPS TOO. ——FRANCIS G. AKA LISA G. HEHE. I’LL GO BY FRANCIS HERE THANK YOU VERY MUCH :D I’LL HAVE TO CHECK OUT GAP TO SEE IF THEY HAVE TALL, OTHERWISE I CAN ORDER IT ONLINE. HOW TALL ARE YOU AYAN?

Reply

Ayan

ROFL, that is okay Francis (but thanks for clearing that up hehe)!
You should definitly check it out or just buy it online … well I am almost 5’7, if I remember correctly I am 2cm short of being 5’7 :(
so lets just say 5’6 3/4 lol!
Oh I have long legs so that makes shopping for skirts an issue, so I am totally happy that this skirt is long enough for me :)

Also I forgot to say how I would wear it. I would wear the white one with yellow and blue. I love that nautical look! —- Francis G.

Ladies, Go to Mervyn’s; they have a beautiful long embroidered skirt in black, brown, tan and white. And right now they are selling for $21.99.

I will definitely check out those long skirts at the gap. I am loving the purple one. They don’t have a Gap in London? However you guys do have Monsoon. I love that site but they don’t mail to the US (boohoo). Some of their skirts are so pretty. I also saw a long polka dot skirt on hijabforyou.com that was very stylish but they need to get better pics of their skirts.

Oh i love those skirts, but I live in Finland so I can not buy them ;(.
Could you make a post about clothing in hot weather?Like clothes, fabrics that are good wearing on the summer so you don’t get hot.Just an idea :).
Here in Finland it is not so hot,but I’m going with my family to Egypt on the summer to see relatives and there it is very hot!Even though I’m not a hijabi.
I would so like to start wearing hijab but there is two problems:
1.I’m not so brave that I could go with it to school(people would look at me like an alien,I’m the only muslim in the hole school)
2.Swimming.I love to go at the summer to the beach but if I would ear hijab I could not do that.
I’m just a really shy person, too scared to start wearing it in school :(…

Salaams Sisters,
I bought the denim skirt and the white one from the gap by my house. The denim in medium fit perfectly but the white one felt a little short and was a little tighter on the buttox area. They’re both the same size. Anyways I’m going to exchange the white for a large, maybe that will solve the issue. Does anyone have any ideas what I could wear these with. I live in Texas and it’s really hot here like atleast 90s already. I like the tank top and the denim jacket idea but it get really hot. I tried wearing the denim one today with a long sleeve t-shirt but I felt like that didn’t look modest enough, t-shirt was too clingy.
Thanks again Kimma, this website is really awesome! I’m already dressing more modestly and it’s not because my husband nags me, I do it from the heart now. I’m really getting motivated by all the sisters on this site and you will receive many rewards, Inshallah.

I bought the chambray one in small and it’s not short at all if you let it sit right below the waist.

thats cool for me b/c i’m short so most average sizes are way too long.

but i would probably wear it w/ my jeans jacket and a nice cotton t-shirt

w/ some cute sandals

I just bought the white skirt from the Gap outlet last week. It was $39.99 plus 40% off and I had a 15% off coupon, so it came to $20!!! Great deal for a cute skirt. I sized up to a medium so it would be longer and it is perfect. The Gap outlet had white and black… so if you live near an outlet store that’s the place to go! Thanks for the great site!
