THE RUNWAY :
Tribal prints were a big fashion trend for Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear runway collections. Many of the major fashion designers showcased at least one outfit that included this trend and some of them based their entire collections around it…
1. ETRO’s Spring 2008 Ready-To-Wear collection included an eclectic mix of bright colors and bohemian elements. This dress is the most subtle piece in Etro’s collection because it includes a very small tribal print at the neckline. This would probably be hidden by our hijab, but the shape of this dress is perfect for Muslim women (with a little layering of course).
2. DKNY is always on target when it comes to vibrant city chic and this pocketed maxi-dress is a perfect example of that. I love the orange color and large graphic print on this dress. It’s trendy without being too literal and the length is great for hijabi Muslimahs.
3. DIANE VON FURSTENBERG is known for her feminine wrap-dresses, so of course she’d translate the tribal trend into an airy chiffon frock. She included a few dresses like this in her Spring 2008 collection, sometimes going the extra mile by topping them off with head-wraps.
4. OSCAR DE LA RENTA designed tribal-printed skirt suits for a sophisticated take on the trend. This one includes a collage of textures and prints with a deep red hue to make the neutral color-palette pop.
OUR WAY :
Vibrant short-dresses to wear with pants and a jacket, shrug, or long-sleeve tee. Tribal-print maxi dresses to layer similarly. And tribal-inspired accessories to easily integrate this trend into any wardrobe.

*stalking!* hehe…… love this!
That scarf is really pretty. I wonder if it’s large enough though. Gotta check the site for measurements, but it seems like a decent size. Great find!!!
Salam sistas – I like the blue dress too, but that red one is calling my name! LOL! Thank God TopShop delivers to the US. :D I already have a ton of ways in mind to wear that dress :D ~sheila
I just love this trend … it suit me well, plus the fact that I am able to find modest dresses and shirts in these prints is just a bonus! :)

I think these posts are beautiful. Thank you. But don’t you think we’ve seen too many maxi dresses already? How about we try and explore different pieces??
Love it.
I really love the DKNY dress!!!but there is one thing that bothers me about maxi-dresses, they make you look really tall. And I already am quite tall for somebody my age.. I do really like the style though
Salam sisters..
I’m a fan of afro-centric apparel, but I would never wear it because I only like the prints. I don’t really like the clothes themselves (like the dashikis). With the tribal print trend, I can have the prints that I like but they can be on my style of clothes like the ones shown here. I’m really into this site ~ I just found it and I’m a fan! :-D
I have the Marciano dress, maasha’allah. It’s one of my favorite things in my closet!! I wear it with white, silver jewelry and a little something yellow to make it pop as kima says……. ~__- WINKS!
so cute and such a good post for the fact that you listed hijabi clothes that work with it. JAK
mmm i love this post too :)
I only see like african prints on tees and stuff like that, never saw this stuff on long dresses before! yay!

As sister amerah I want some tips in order to wear hijab in hot climate!! Spain is very hot in summer!!! And now
it is 27 grades!!! Only in spring… in summer just 40 grades!!
Thank you.
Salaam sisters,
I just wanted to know if you can give tips and advice on modest clothing for tall sisters because i’ve seen alot of cute maxi dress but they are a not long enough.
Sad and depressed maxi-dress lover.
The Blue dress is BEAUTIFUL! perfect on a hot summer day! I would dress it with some stylish flat silver shoes nordstroms has some fun ones!
KIMA! I LOVE that orange DKNY dress, but it runs $600! Sheesh! (Honestly, if I hadnt already maxed out my credit cards, I’d probably buy it, lol). Im thinking thin long-sleeved high neck black top, Taupe/gray cropped jacket and soft black or soft orange thin pashmina scarf… to keep it all soft and flowy, add discreet black flats.
