THE RUNWAY :
Tiers of fabric were seen all over the Spring 2008 Ready To Wear and Couture runway shows. Here are a few of We Love Hijab’s observations…
1. ARMANI PRIVÉ created tiers in an unconventional asymmetrical style that I think is really interesting. But, what I really adore about this dress is the soft teal color. Perfect for spring.
2. This maxi dress by GIANFRANCO FERRÉ features a mile of tiers that ends in the prettiest aubergine shade. While I’d be tempted to wear it because of the color, I don’t like the implied nudeness beneath the sheer layer of the dress — although I do think that it’s lined.
3. If you’re a faithful fashion follower, I’m sure you’ve heard about the trend of wearing prints that look like splattered paint. CHRISTIAN LACROIX combined that trend with a tiered full skirt, gradient stockings, a ruffled boa, and printed shoes. The result is a runway look that’s 1 part classy, 2 parts crazy, and 100% couture.
4. I think that MONIQUE LHUILLIER’s interpretation of the tiered trend is one of the most unique. Instead of sewing the tiers together or simply layering them on top of one another, she created a bubbled effect on the top tier, which I think is really sweet.
OUR WAY :
Below are some of my favorite tiered pieces. They’re either modest by default or very layer-able. Enjoy!

Flounced-Hem Maxi Dress, $49.99
This can be worn with a lightweight cardigan or jacket. Or, you can wear it with a long-sleeve tee underneath. And don’t think the color of the tee or jacket must be black or white… Take a cue from the other dresses in the collage and wear it with a yellow, pink, or purple piece. Just play around with different colors and see what you like.
Tiered Flower Applique Dress, $86.73
I really adore the colors and textures of this dress. I’d love to see it worn with a white shrug, white hijab, and denim, black, or white wide-leg pants. What do you think?
Color Tiers Maxi Dress, $56.73
This one is really colorful — as you can see — so, I’d keep it pretty simple when it comes to styling this dress. I’d probably wear black with this one to tone it down a bit. And just a little f.y.i.: this one looks a little short in length so if it ends up being a little too short for you, you can always wear it with pants.
Deep teal has to be one of my favorite colors and it looks so pretty on this silky skirt. The fabric on this one is a rayon — not polyester — so it will be comfortable to wear when it starts getting hot. As you can see, the top of the skirt is formfitting, so I think it should be worn with a top or jacket that falls to the upper-thigh at least.

salaam-o-lakakum,
Ilove this skirt. I have it in two colors from amazon!
I’m “loving” the tiers and the new site mashallah!! How can I get on as a haute hijabi?
Jazaks sis for putting this together. I like how you’re showing stuff that we can wear from the catwalks because a lot of us sisters are interested in fashin just like other females out there. Please keep it up. :-P

ah! forgot to say that I’m loving this trend too!

a rose is still a rose
Im loving the tiers look. Maybe im just cheap, but i wonder where I can find some less exspensive pieces?
Still not too sure about tiers, but I love the teal dress and the rainbow dress for their stunning colours. The other colour in the skirt is also gorgeous (the olive shade).
I like this trend. I think that it is a kind of cloths that muslim women can wear but, of course, with something more! I mean, for example, that the dress is very pretty and the colour is also very beautiful but it has no sleeves. It gives you the oportunity to combine it with a sun jacket for instance. Congratulations for this web page. I am delighted to share my opinions with other sisters. Salam!
I hope this web page will be already in a short time. I am anxious to see the new boutique!
Najibah you could check the sales rack but I don’t know if it’ll be cheap just yet for these dresses since it’s spring is just starting. I hope the boutique is up soon too. Is the boutique going to have your own clothes in it! I’m getting excited now (hehe). Even if it’s like shopstyle, I’d be happy.
Sincerely,
Erin
Salam ladies!
Just wanted to say that I updated this article to include commentary for the “Our Way” part of it.
The boutique is going to be where I combine all of the modest clothing items that I find around the web. So, unfortunately, they won’t be my own designs. I just want to make it easy for sisters to find whatever they are looking for.
xoxo Kima
Asalamalaikum sisters. This site is the best that I’ve seen (praises to Allah). There’s nothing wrong with Muslimahs liking to spice up our wardrobes. We aren’t stuck in black sheets and we can enjoy our fashion if we want! Love you for the sake of Allah. GP
dress 3 is so beautiful. i actually have something similar but it’s shorter & i wear it with jeans. i’m a bit adventurous so i wear mine with a floral hijab. still get compliments though!~~saraji
I have to wear dresses like the ones you posted since I am a “thick” sister. It’s hard to find out what to wear if you have a booty. Please give us some tips for that we love hijab?
BEAUTIFUL!! :D
Much love for all your effort <3
I am liking this tiered look. But will it work for someone who is short? I would probably have to stick to something that has a single color. I feel like wearing multicolor tiers will make me look shorter and wider. I love your new site, masha Allah. One thing though. When I clicked on “Read more” from the front page, somehow the formatting of the page got messed up (second collage was right on top of the comments. I had to go to the archives and click on it there to read the article properly. Don’t know if anyone else was having this problem. But thumbs up, again mashaAllah. Can’t wait till the other sections are up and running, insha Allah.
wonderful idea this site is, masha’allah. Will you be including any NZ shops in your boutique?
I like tiered skirts. We always get them in the summer time from this flea market where we live but I’ve never seen them online. Thanks for the links.
i love this trend! it seems like this spring and summer is going to cater to muslimahs a lot alhamdulilah :)
These are gorgeous! I think you can wear tiers no matter what your body type is.
*Swoons* @ #2
I looooove the colour and the style, except that I wish it hugged the hips a bit more (I’m thinking about it for home, not outside wear, lol)… sooooooo pretty!
